About Polly Hall

Polly Hall is a British mixed-heritage writer & artist. Her work has been described as, ‘beautifully understated’, ‘raw and visceral’ and ‘highly imaginative’.

She wrote her first novel, The Taxidermist’s Lover, while studying for an MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. Her debut novel, The Taxidermist’s Lover, was featured in the New York Times, a Finalist in the Bram Stoker Awards and won Gold at the IPPY Awards. Her second psychological horror novel, Myrrh, was published in 2024 with Titan Books & was described by Eric La Rocca as ‘one of the most remarkable books I’ve read…’.

Polly wrote a memoir, Blood and Blood, during lockdown which was shortlisted for the Mslexia Memoir Prize.

Her writing has been widely published in anthologies including: A Wild and Precious Life; Free Loaves on Friday; and commissioned as part of interdisciplinary arts projects such as Luke Jerram’s Bread Poetry & Theatre Melange's Out of the Mouth of The Parrett.
